I know there are a few very computer-competent people on this board so I thought I'd ask a computer question. After closing out AOL (yeah I need to get rid of it) I noticed there was a message that took over my entire desktop wallpaper. I have Ad-Aware and Spybot and did scans to delete the spyware on my system. I also tried restarting in safe mode and doing the same thing. Alas, the message is gone, but I can't see my wallpaper except when I'm starting up the computer or shutting it down. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
edit:
spelling of geniuses (wow i'm dumb)

CWShredder and HijackThis may help as well.
However, it sounds to me like you have gotten Active Desktop turned on somehow...

I tried the CWShredder...maybe I'll try Hijack This too. Is there anyway to turn off that active desktop?

Right click your wallpaper, choosse properties, Desktop, [Customize Desktop], Web. Uncheck any Web pages listed. Then delete them.
That *should* do it. :)
